Bipolar replacement -better option for elderly intertrochantric fracture
Intertrochantric fracture in elderly patients above 75 years age is difficult situation . If osteosythesis done , they may need to remain partial weight bearing with walker Or sometime even non weight bearing . It is difficult at this age and most of the time patients remain bed ridden leading to other problems like bed sore , chest infection , loss of confidence .
Bipolar replacement offers immidiate mobilisation in all these patients . Reconstruction of trochanters with wire helps to stabilise fragments .
Early mobilisation is helpfull in many aspects to have independant life , undisturbed .
